'Dexter'(TV-Show) Review

His name is Dexter Morgan(Michael C. Hall) and his is the "hero" of the TV-Show 'Dexter'. I have to warn you, this is a movie with lot of blood. Dexter is a forensics expert with the specialty blood's pattern. As the first sight Dexter seems to be a normal person, too normal, spending time with his girlfriend Rita(Julie Benz), his co-workers and his sister Debra Morgan(Jennifer Carpenter), a young police officer recently transfered to Homicide Department. With so many people around him you could say that Dexter doesn't have time for anything else. But Dexter has a secret, when the night falls he brings justice to those who escaped justice. His own justice. Following 'Harry's Code' Dexter avoids random kills, and he only kills when he is convinced of the guilt of his victim. Dexter thinks that his thirst for blood comes when his childhood, when he witnessed the killing of his mother. Following the 'Code' and faking his feelings Dexter manages to stay invisible to the rest of the people, except for Sergeant James Doakes(Erik King) who believes that Dexter is hiding something. On each episode for two seasons Dexter discovers more about himself, about his pass. Some thinks that Dexter is a 'monster'(including himself) while other see him as a hero, doing the justice that the police couldn't do, killing the criminals. At the first I was skeptical, but after watching two episodes I was convinced, watching Dexter was a priority among TV-Shows from my list.

At first I did not know what this show was really about. Now I do!
It's deplorable, and disgusting. What redeeming value does this show purport to possess?!

Oh, the stories so far are interesting, the actors are very adept, but what I find most offensive is putting an individual's illness of mind and spirit before the public as if he is doing a 'good thing'.

No, this is akin to the Catholic Church attempting to revive and endorse what it did during the mindless perversions of the Dark Ages during their reign of terror of the Inquisitions.

After all it was the Church's collective non-consciousness that destroyed countless lives during their long age-of-terror. This show attempts to make this sick character Dexter appealing, when he lusts for blood, with his own brand of "justice".

It's a very sick show, and it ought not be shown to any children, at the very least.

Dexter is devoid of human warmth and character. His entire life is built upon subterfuge and vast deceits. He cannot even understand the passion of being in love; or more sickly, leads his girlfriend to believe that he may have something human to value for her.

Dexter is acting outside of the law, as nothing less than a renegade self-appointed policeman, judge, and jury, as he indulges his sick compulsions. Dexter has no respecto for the law, no conscience for denying any human being their own Constitutional rights to be tried before a jury of their peers.

This show is the ultimate sick one, far worse than the slasher movies.

Thumbs down. Take it off the air, please. Where are the so-called Christian and Jewish communities which have not voiced their public oppositions to this most perverse show?

Oh, this show certainly does fit nicely within the NWO protocols to undermine our Constitution and Bill of Rights, great timing; and why not let's return to the rack and torture of the Catholic Inquisitions, too, it's all the same filthy garbage.

Have I made my case clear?

I watched every episode of Dexter, including the ending. From the first couple episodes, I was hooked.

The story is amazing, along with the cast and the musical score that comes with it. The relationships were well-planned and acted out, and the plot twists put me on the end of my seat.

Perhaps what I like most about Dexter is how philosophical it is. Although a sociopath and a serial killer, Dexter's actions do not seem to be his "fault" (he is the product of a traumatic event in his past). This brings into question the nature vs. nurture argument (which will be resolved at the end).

Along with the nature/nurture argument is some existentialist thought: Dexter struggles to find purpose in what he believes to be a life outside of his control.

Concerning the controversial issue of murder and when it is moral... Before ever knowing anything about Dexter, I remember how my mom told me how disgusting of a show it was because it condoned homicide. This thought has been in the back of my mind since the first episode, telling me that Dexter, the protagonist, needed to be caught and sent to prison. After watching the show in its entirety, I still have conflicting ideas. This is what I love most about this show; it challenges us to address our own value system through its own philosophical musings and winding moral dilemmas.

On a tangent, if there was one thing I could change about the show, it would have to be the creepy old FBI guy/young female police officer relationship. I may never get that naked backside image of a 50 year old man out of my mind.

So, for anyone who is mature enough (~18), and open-minded enough to entertain some troubling moral problems, this show is definitely for you. Be advised that this is a showtime series, so it will have nudity and some language (yay!). I really do recommend this show to anyone who isn't offended by this kind of moral flexibility, as it is very well done and memorable to say the least.

?What is moral? What is sacred?
We are a culture obsessed with death,sex,violence....

We place it on a pristine white platter for all to see and call it "art" or "freedom of expression."

To say that, in the case of Dexter, it's not moral for Dexter to do what he does. Because he "denys someone their constitutional rights.....blah blah blah" is BS.

In today's society it seems that the victims' life is never the "moral question", it's how are we to deal with the poor soul that so violently took the life of the victim.

With Dexter there is justice. Not Society's kind of justice where we place the killer in a warm cell with three square meals a day, cable tv and weight room.... you get the picture.

Nope Dexter conviently skips past all that waste and gets down to the nitty gritty. There's no room for second chances, why should there be? There wasn't one for the victim. PLAIN AND SIMPLE

I'm by no means advocating Dexter's kind of behavior. I think Dexter is an intriguing show. Some have voiced their opinion as this show being morally perverted in every sense and to be taken off the air. But if you are to condemn Dexter you should condemn the whole lot of killer dramas.

Wow, you can really go on about nothing when you write these things.

Blogs are about your opinions so here's mine. I like the show, I don't think this show is for anyone under 16. Eventhough I like Dexter I believe shows like these cast impressions. After all that is their intent (to move people,to captivate them, to intrigue.) But too often the impressions made are not positive ones. Therefore these kinds of shows are also spring boards that encourage (even if never intended)the interest in death and violence. Maybe it's just entertainment to you, and to someone else it's morally repulsive, but to that other person it could just be the thing they needed to start something...

Now that's somehting to think about

Absolutely sick and demoralizing to portray this serial killer in a warm fuzzy family with children. Oh I agree that the actors are good which means they could be good in other roles. We cry when the kids in high school go berserk all the while weaning them unconciously on this because it sells and is marketable. Hollywood is rapidly pushing the limits for a fist full of dollars and could give a shit about your kids.
